Executive Director of The Hilton Head Island Deep Well Project

After serving on The Deep Well Project’s board of directors for five years, Sandy switched over to staff in March 2018, becoming the Executive Director when long-time leader Betsy Doughtie retired.   Prior to joining Deep Well, Sandy had a 30-year media career in Advertising and Marketing with The Island Packet/The Beaufort Gazette.   During her career with the media company Sandy wore a number of hats – outside sales, special sections/niche product manager, sales manager, then finally VP of Advertising.

Sandy grew up in a small town in north Georgia, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Georgia Southern University, and has been married to her husband Bubba for 36 years.   Sandy and Bubba have 33-year old twin daughters, two rescue dogs, and they love to travel - especially to places where Bubba can do triathlons and Sandy can sample different foods and wines.     In her spare time, Sandy enjoys kayaking the local waters and playing tennis – usually on two or three USTA teams at any given time.
