October 2nd Member's Career Update

“College Admissions…not everybody’s going to Harvard.”

W. Mack Palmour

Over 30 years’ experience in educational administration, including Enrollment Management, Admissions, Academic Advising, counseling, housing, career services, marketing, and sales.  Mack has extensive experience in the training, development and mentoring of entry and mid-level professionals.   Currently, Mack serves as the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management at the University of South Carolina Beaufort since July 2013.   He spent 15 years in the University System of Georgia working at several system colleges and universities, as well as in the states of Louisiana and Pennsylvania.  He also spent six years working for Marriott International as a Sales Manager.    Mack remains active in professional development at the local, regional and national level.  He is Past-President of the Georgia Association of Collegiate Registrar’s and Admissions Officers (GACRAO) and has presented the Strategic Enrollment Management conference sponsored by the American Association of Collegiate Admissions Officers (AACRAO) on topics from Admitting Students with Criminal Convictions to Working with Anxious Parents of College Freshman.  Palmour earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from North Georgia College (University of North Georgia) and a Master of Arts in Student Personnel Services from Northwestern State University (Louisiana.).  Mack will discuss his career and the state of higher education today.
