LML Book Club - The Cause

Gentlemen:

The March meeting of the LML Book Club will be Tuesday, March 15th, at 5:30 pm.  After more than a year of meeting via Zoom, we will be meeting in-person at It's Greek to Me, a very nice restaurant on the south end of the island, across the street from Coligny Plaza.  We will be outdoors on the patio.

We will be discussing The Cause: The American Revolution and It's Discontents, 1773 - 1783 by Joseph Ellis, a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian, and one of our Book Club's favorite authors.

The Cause is a culminating work on the American Founding by one of its leading historians. The Cause rethinks the American Revolution as we have known it.

It is a NYT Book Review Editors' Choice and considered one of the 60 best reads for right now.

In one of the most “exciting and engaging” (Gordon S. Wood) histories of the American founding in decades, Pulitzer Prize–winning historian Joseph J. Ellis offers an epic account of the origins and clashing ideologies of America’s revolutionary era, recovering a war more brutal, and more disorienting, than any in our history, save perhaps the Civil War.

Don't forget to bring your recommendations for future reads to the meeting.  If you can not attend this meeting, you can still submit recommendations for future months via email to Elliot Siegel at 4esiegel@gmail.com.

Looking Ahead

We are compiling the results of the most recent survey of members' interest in reading the 10 books currently on our list of potential selections.  If you have not submitted your preferences, please do so as soon as possible.  The results of that survey will be announced next week (the week of March 7th) with our April selection.

Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you on the 15th.
